As the predators become the hunted, THE ISSUES OF RAPE CULTURE AND SEXISM ARE ADDRESSED WITH SENSITIVITY AND URGENCY. Although appropriately comedic at times, Lady Hunters remains A POWERFUL YET IMPORTANT ADDITION TO THE HORROR GENRE.

This makes their superhero personas all the more interesting and vivid, as you’d never expect the nice lady bringing cupcakes to the bake sale to be hunting down sexual predators.

THE BEST SHORT OF THE LOT, IN MY OPINION, IS "LADY HUNTERS"  ...

we have all heard the stories of abuse, harassment, and assault that don’t make the headlines (like, you know, your cousin’s story, your best friend’s, your own, etc). It’s overwhelming and it makes us feel the worst thing you can feel: powerless. It’s not like we can (legally) track down these pieces of human filth and kill them for their crimes.

But that’s exactly what the women in “Lady Hunters” do ... 

One of the things that makes “Lady Hunters” such an interesting revenge story is that the central women, the vigilantes, are not connected to the survivor in any way. They are simply women who, like all of us, have just had enough of scumbag men getting away with committing heinous acts. The only difference is that they act on the fantasy that we’ve all had.

How have the script and film evolved over the course of their development?

When the script was in development, a couple of well-meaning friends in the industry warned that a three-female-protagonist short film couldn’t work, and that a comedy about rape couldn’t work. But this story begged to be told, and I wanted people to be entertained and engaged while watching it. To make a true triumvirate work and enhance the mom-friends’ relationships, my wonderful DP, Lauretta Prevost and I set up wide-shot long-takes that included all three main characters.

This project promises great action and a space to laugh at the world’s absurdity. More importantly, though, its protagonists speak to the very real situation in which many of us now find ourselves: first-time, ordinary people who must step up, speak out, and take action.
